Sportz Village Partners With XTRA to Offer for The First Time Automated Fitness Assessments in India

Sportz Village, the world’s largest youth sports platform has partnered with XTRA, a leading 3D AI motion-tracking API provider to offer remote, at school and at-home self-fitness assessments within the Sportz Village mobile application.

Sportz Village pioneered the concept of assessments in India with children being assessed on various parameters as part of their in-school sports program. These assessments helped show the status and change over time in the fitness of an individual,  as well as changes in health and fitness trends at regional and national levels. The data from the assessments has been used in Sportz Village’s Annual Health, a study showcasing the state of health of Indian children, and has been receiving widespread media coverage.

Whilst these tests have been conducted physically on ground by Sportz Village’s 1500+ team, there was a need to automate with the objective of increasing the accuracy, frequency and speed with which the assessments are conducted. Automation will also help in assessing children in regions where Sportz Village does not yet have an on-ground presence!

Powered by XTRA’s Computer Vision (CV) and AI technology, Sportz Village’s Motion Assessor provides an enhanced interactive experience to conduct physical fitness assessments for all School-going and Out-of-School children remotely. The application automatically evaluates the strength, endurance, and mobility of a child to achieve faster, scalable, and more effective analysis with objective reliable data, real-time feedback, and form guidance.

“This solution is perfect to drive much higher active participation for a fitter and active India across our enterprise ecosystem that serves more than 200,000 students and a network of 7,500 schools.” Said Salim Bharmal, Group Head – Product & Technology of Sportz Village.
“With Motion Assessor, Sportz Village is able to offer an unparalleled remote physical fitness analysis anytime and anywhere with state-of-the-art AI motion technologies. Our goal is to support and provide the best CV infrastructure available via our API framework to delight Sportz Village’s school partners at scale” – said Pierangelo Raiola, CEO of XTRA.

With positive tailwinds in terms of adoption, as over 1.5 million people have been assessed in India, this partnership is the first of its kind pan-India initiative using the latest available AI technology which envisages the fitness assessment of all school-going children across the country.
