| Pledge for Parents |
| |
|
1 |
I shall not attach love to winning.I shall love
my child just the same if he or she hits a six or
gets out first ball. |
2 |
I shall not scream advice at my child from the
sidelines. This only confuses and embarrasses the
child. |
3 |
I shall not get in a confrontation with the coach.
If there's a problem, I shall call the coach after
emotions die down. |
4 |
I shall not impose professional standards on children's
sports. They're kids, not paid professionals. |
5 |
I shall support athletic activity. This includes
taking my child to practices, playing and practicing
in the backyard, and standing on the sidelines on
cold, wet Saturday mornings. |
6 |
I shall prepare myself to be the parent of a benchwarmer,
and decide in advance how I'll handle this. |
7 |
I shall notice what my child does best. Talk up
that one great catch, or that one great dribble
of the ball. |
