1 What are the games my kid can play?

All games have been carefully chosen to ensure that children develop

   Physical skills and strength
   Concentration abilities, and
Most important of all have fun.

Games offered:

  • Soccer: Soccer is the world’s most popular game for a reason. All it needs is a ball and some enthusiasm. Children playing soccer build significant cardio-vascular fitness as well as a great team spirit. Play on the soccer field ensures development of ball-control and dodging skills as well as builds great team spirit. Soccer players learn to be part of a team and support the team members while attacking or defending.
  • Cricket : India’s favorite passion. Cricket builds all-round skills including concentration, physical fitness, hand-eye co-ordination and strength – whether it is by executing an excellent “Jonty” diving catch or a “Sachin” straight drive or a “McGrath” Yorker. It’s a team effort and each member has to pitch in for the team to win. Cheering your team on from the sides is a great experience as well.
  • Handball :The world’s fastest game. Handball provides an excellent opportunity for children to build great fitness, team work and ability to anticipate moves. Not as popular in India as cricket or soccer but still a great game for children to have a lot of fun!
  • Volleyball :A great exciting team game that builds stamina, team spirit, ball control and hand-eye co-ordination; whether it is through diving about to make that great return or jumping to the net to block the opponents’ smash, this is a game that has all the ingredients for a great time!
  • Basketball : Remember Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson? Great moves, brilliant anticipation and excellent dribbling skills. This game is one of the best in the world when it comes to levels of physical fitness required, skills and teamwork.

While our focus is on team sports, we also ensure that a lot of free play games are slotted in, games which are pure fun.

Games like Tag, Dodge ball, Ultimate Frisbee, kho-kho, Sepak-Tekro (Malaysian Volleyball) etc. The idea is to ensure that kids have fun at SportzVillage.

Outdoor activities:  Exposure to nature and the wilderness builds a great sense of eco-friendliness and makes kids aware of the need to conserve our fragile ecosystem. In addition, outdoor activities like rock-climbing, trekking, camping build up great camaraderie, teach kids how to survive in the wild and also build strength and stamina.

Some of the outdoor activities we offer include:
  1. Nature camps
  2. Treks
  3. Rock climbing
  4. Wall Climbing

We have a national level rock-climber and adventure sports expert who conducts the outdoor activities. These activities will be conducted in and around Bangalore. Typically, these will be for a duration of 5 hours totally (including to-and-fro travel time).

We have pre-packaged courses to choose from. E.g. A 3 month Rock-climbing introduction course or a 6 month intermediate course. There are well-defined milestones that the member will achieve after going through these courses.
Contact the SportzVillage office for more details on the Outdoor Activities.

19. What are the credentials of the coaches?

Our coaches have been selected due to their experience in working with kids and their ability to bring out the best in them. The focus is more on their ability to handle kids and less on their own skill levels or experience levels.
In the age groups 5 to 15 years, the important aspect of coaching is to manage the games so that each individual builds on his/her strengths and therefore maintains high levels of enthusiasm for the game. Our coaches will ensure that the same yardstick does not measure all members as each person has his own strengths and weaknesses.
Coaches have trained large groups of kids earlier and have significant experience in managing kids. Hence, they will be able to get the best out of your child.

Organised play means that SportzVillage officials conduct the game and provide necessary guidance and advice to the teams. Free play means that the kids play among themselves w/o any supervision (specific to the game)

26. Will my son become a good sportsman? Will he be able to participate in city and state leagues? Will you train him for a place in the national junior cricket team?

At SportzVillage, your son will become a sporting person and be “trained for life” – on aspects about leadership, teamwork, ability to handle pressure, taking the team along on decisions, organizing events etc.At this point we do not intend to provide training for professional/state levels.

27. Why do you focus only on team games? Why not games like tennis or golf?

In today’s world, with limited spaces available to play team sports, the sporting spirit and team work related personality development in kids is largely ignored. We believe that these are critical for a person’s overall development and largely responsible for success in the world (corporate or otherwise). Also, there are other avenues for individual sports like tennis or golf – but not enough for team sports.

  • Through team sports @ SportzVillage your child will understand the correlation between hard work and winning/rewards.
  • Your child will develop leadership skills. At SportzVillage our games will give opportunities for your child to be a leader of a group.
  • All games have been carefully chosen to ensure that children develop
