Leather Ball Cricket Tournament > Tournament Rules & Regulations:
  • Group matches will be in the round robin format (each team will play all the other teams in their group).
  • In the league matches, the winning team will get 2 points. The loosing team gets 0 points. If there is a tie, each team gets 1 point.
  • Top team in each group will automatically move to quarterfinals. In case of equal points, the team with better NRR moves to the QF. Two best losers will join the quarterfinal lineup (Please find details on NRR in Appendix A)
  • All the matches from quarterfinals will be on a knock-out basis.
  • In Quarter Finals if there is a tie, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 10th over will move to semi-final. If the RR is same at the end of 10th over, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 11th over will move to semi-final. And so on. If the RR is same till the end of 16th , the team that lost lower number of wickets will go through semi final. If that is also same, the winner will be decided on the basis of TOSS.
  • In SEMI-FINAL if there is a tie, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 10th over will move to FINALS. If the RR is same at the end of 10th over, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 11th over will move to FINALS. And so on. If the RR is same till the end of 20th , the team that lost lower number of wickets will go through FINALS. If that is also same, the winner will be decided on the basis of TOSS.
  • In the FINALS if there is a tie, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 12th over will be declared winner. If the RR is same at the end of 12th over, the team with better run-rate (RR) at the end of 13th over will be declared winner. And so on. If the RR is same till the end of 10th , the team that lost lower number of wickets will be declared winner. If that is also same, the winner will be decided on the basis of TOSS.
  • Number of overs -
    • In Group matches (Stage 1) - a maximum of 16 overs per side.
    • In Quarter Finals (Stage 2) - a maximum of 20 overs a side.
    • In Semifinals (Stage 3) - a maximum of 20 overs a side.
    • In Finals (Stage 4) - a maximum of 20 overs a side.
  • The duration of group matches (stage 1) will be 2 hours 40 Minutes. Each Innings will need to finish in 1 hour 20 minutes. Change over time will be 20 minutes.
  • The duration of the Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Finals will be 4 hours. Each inning will need to finish in 1 hour 50 minutes. Change over time will be 20 minutes.
  • A team can use any number of bowlers. During the first stage, only two bowler will be allowed to bowl 5 overs. During the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals only three bowlers will be allowed to bowl 5 overs.
  • All the matches will start at the scheduled time. The team that delays the game will incur a penalty. For every 3 min delay, the team will loose one over.
  • Wides and No-Balls: Regular cricket rules. Scoring of wide and no ball - regular cricket rules.
  • Any requests for postponement or changes of match timings will not be entertained.
  • The Chief Referee or organizer may at their discretion, postpone/alter the time of a match.
  • All teams will comprise only of employees. If proved otherwise teams risk disqualification.
  • No HCA league players would be allowed to participate in the tournament.
